Welcome to the Capital USA Dance July Update

Hi, USA Dancers!

The heat is on! Our summer of dance is rolling right along, and there are lots more exciting events coming up for our members. Read on to find out what's coming up!

See you this Sunday...

Dancing On The Hudson

The Capital District Chapter of USA Dance proudly invites you to our annual smash-hit event, a three hour evening dinner-dance cruise on the Hudson River. On Sunday, August 17th, instead of our regular monthly dance, join us on the Captain JP Cruise Line for three hours of Dancing, a fabulous buffet, and the ever-popular dessert bar (cash bar available).

We'll have two dance floors, one (weather permitting) on the open top deck, so you can feel the breeze and see the sights while you dance. Music will be provided by DJ's Bob Englert and Gary Burgess!

Time (and space) is running out to register for this amazing event! We have to have your reservations by this Thursday in order to guarantee a slot on the boat. For more details, and to buy tickets, visit our website at

Dance In The Park

This is something a little different, because we love to explore new opportunities for our members. On Saturday, August 30th, Capital USA Dance, in conjunction with The NYS Office of Parks and Recreation, The Dance Flurry Organization, and Friends of Grafton Lakes State Park, is sponsoring an outdoor dinner dance in the Deerfield Pavilion at Grafton Lakes State Park. We'll have a swing lesson, barbecue dinner, and live dance music!

At 5PM, there'll be a beginner East Coast Swing lesson with Jason Fenton. Then at 6 PM, dinner from Brunswick Barbecue and Brew will be served. From 6 to 10 PM there will be dancing, featuring the Dylan Perrillo Orchestra. The band will be mostly swing music, with DJ'd ballroom on breaks.

This unique dance opportunity will cost $25 per person ($15 for just the dance). No advance tickets are necessary, but you need to register for dinner ahead of time by calling Laura Sears at 518.279.1155.

Dress is casual.

National Ballroom Dance Week

This September 20th through 29th is once again National Ballroom Dance Week. Sure, it's ten days, not a week, but we're going to need all that extra time! We're brewing up quite a roster of events, including (so far) two dances (one of them our annual Black Tie Gala) and public showcases in Colonie Center Mall. Stay tuned for details and a full list of events!

Ballroom Fashion Show

On October twelfth, USA Dance will bring you our first ever ballroom fashion show!

Men's and Ladies' fashions (along with jewelry and accessories) from local businesses and dance suppliers will be modeled by members of our own community, and items will also be available for purchase at the show.

This luncheon and will be held at Wolfert's Roost. Information about ticket prices and participants will be coming soon, so keep your eyes peeled!
